Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit caught Staind in concert and was blown away by their live performance and demo tape. Luck was definitely on Staind's side that day cuz Fred Durst invited the band out to Jacksonville, Florida for a jam session. Then he helped Staind make a demo, and arranged a meeting with Flip Records, which eventually led to a record deal with the label in 1998. After Staind got their record contract they landed a gig on The Warped Tour and it wasn't long until they released their first album, Dysfunctional on Flip/Elektra Entertainment in 1999. Then Staind got some great exposure touring with high profile bands like Kid Rock and Limp Bizkit.
