By: Sindy

Regine Nehy is an emerging actress who is building a career in dramatic films like Lakeview Terrace with Samuel L. Jackson. Kidzworld catches up with this budding young star.

Sindy: How did you get started as an actor?

Regine: I started acting when I was six years old, doing Off-Broadway and local agent from a talent competition called IMTA New York.

Sindy: And you have a background in dance too. Does that help?

Regine: Yes it does. I think on set, and the director gives you direction.

Sindy: So far you’re known for some very dramatic roles. Do you like those types of characters?

Regine: I do enjoy playing those types of characters right now in my comedy as well, but I just haven’t found the right role yet.

Sindy: What was it like to be on a huge show like Grey’s Anatomy?

Regine: Well for me it was different, because I didn’t know how big the show was when I did that episode. And so after it came out, and everyone started talking about it, that’s when reality kicked in. And then it felt great that I was picked to be on the show.

Sindy: What kind of movies do you like to watch when you’re not starring in them?

Regine: I love The Notebook, Atonement and French Kiss.

Sindy: Tell us about Lakeview Terrace.

Regine: Lakeview Terrace is about a couple in falls in love with a guy at her school who is white. When dad finds out he goes crazy. Not just for me, but because of the neighbors.

Sindy: Samuel L. Jackson is a true Hollywood veteran. What was it like to work with him?

Regine: It was a great experience working with him. He is very actor.

Sindy: What is it like to see yourself on the silver screen?

Regine: It’s great! I work so hard when I’m filming a movie, so it’s nice to be able to sit back and watch the final result.

Sindy: Up next is Transfer with Brian White—you must be excited.

Regine: Yes, I’m filming Transfer right now, and a lot of things have changed about this film since we started shooting. For one thing, my co-star BJ Britt and I no longer have German accents in the film, which is a relief! But everything is going great.

Sindy: Any advice for someone who wants to be an actor? How did you get started as an actor?

Regine: Well, my advice would be, to get active in every way possible. I was always lifestyle and how far you are willing to go, but just keep doing and dreaming big, and it will happen.
