Chelsea Makela Interview 535h4o

Dec 02, 2008
improv workshops and classes to really get a feel for the L.A. scene.

Sindy:: Cool! Tell me about your new movie.

Chelsea:Dance Flick is a spoof-comedy making fun of teen dance movies and musicals. The main character is a rich, suburban white girl who moves to the rougher part of town. My character, Tracy, helps get her into some misadventures. (laughs)

Sindy:: What’s Tracy like?

Chelsea:She’s socially clueless, so it was really fun to play her. She thinks everyone enjoys having her around, but she’s a bit of an airhead.

Sindy:: What was it like working with the Wayan Brothers?

Chelsea:They’re incredible, and so much fun—I learned a lot. They were all very ive and obviously hilarious.—comedic geniuses, for sure.

Sindy:: And Amy Sedaris?

Chelsea:She’s the sweetest person ever. And so so funny.

Sindy:: What was the audition process like?

Chelsea:They made me say my lines so many different ways, like once they were like—“Now act like DMX gangsta rap! (laughs)

Sindy:: You got to meet Cameron Diaz!

Chelsea:I did! I met her on the set of a show called Teen Nick. She was so sweet, it was like hanging out with a girlfriend—she’d be amazing to work with.

Sindy:: Who else is on your dream co-star list?

Chelsea:The Wayans were on it, that’s the funny thing! I would love to work with so many people — Leonardo DiCaprio, Adam Sandler — all the movers and shakers of Hollywood.

Sindy:: Would you like to keep doing comedy?

Chelsea:I’m open to more comedy for sure. I’d also like to do some dramatic features—I’d like to do both throughout my career, drama and comedy are both so wonderful.

Sindy:: Any advice for other young people trying to act?

Chelsea:Get your name out there. I’m a big believer in letting people know you’re here—promote yourself! I also have a great team and a wonderful publicist, so make sure you work with fantastic people.
