Thousands of people waved California. The town's officials, honoured Captain Sullenberger and his family with a special ceremony.
Captain Sullenberger is credited with saving 155 people but he told the crowds he was just doing his job: "I know I can speak for the entire crew when I tell you we were simply doing the job we were trained to do."
The former U.S. aircraft after making sure all engers and crew were safe.
Captain Sullenberger was nicknamed Hero of the Hudson after successfully guiding the plane into the river and avoiding the broken legs and about 78 others were treated for minor injuries.
