So You Think You Can Dance :: Top 14 3c4o67

Jul 03, 2009

This week was all about characters on Shakespearean lovers.

Performances 5g6j5z

  • Jeanette and Brandon opened the show with the best cha-cha that the judges had ever seen on the show. Nigel even called Brandon the “Michelangelo of the dance floor.”

  • Kayla and Kupono kicked off the character performances with a dark, chemistry “electric.”

  • Randi and Evan danced a Joey Dowling Broadway routine. The judges had mixed opinions about the number. But aside from a few constructive critiques, their response was mostly positive.

  • Jason and Caitlin brought choreographer Brian Friedman’s warped mind to the dance floor. Caitlin was an Earth to impregnate Jason—the only surviving human being. The judges were a little freaked out, but loved how they committed to the characters 100%.

  • Jeanine and Philip performed a risky hip-hop routine where they were chained together at the hip. Finally, finally, finally the judges had positive comments for Philip. They called their performance risky, dangerous and hard-hitting.

  • Melissa and Ade brought classical fairytale.

  • Karla and Vitolio danced “this kiss of death,” a.k.a the quick step! Vitolio played a museum statue that came to life at night. Even though it’s known as the most difficult dance, the judges were extremely impressed!

  • Elimination Results 3113f

Ironically, the first night Philip and Jeanine receive positive from the judges, they land in the bottom 3 couples, along with Kayla and Kupono and Karla and Vitolio. Fortunately, luck was on their side. The judges said goodbye to Karla and Vitolio.
