Despite growing up in Atlanta, Lucas had never ridden a horse before the Hannah Montana movie. “My dad used to do rodeo for UGA, but I’d never ridden a horse before in my life!” Lucas spent three weeks in pre-production learning to ride for the movie, but the work paid off because he looks like a natural on the big screen.

Lucas scored a 2009 Teen Choice Award nomination for his efforts, but he wasn’t surprised when he lost out. “I’m excited [to be nominated] but I’m up against [kwlink 19677[/kwlink]Zac Efron so winning isn’t a realistic goal,” he said. “But!” he continued, “I am flattered that I was nominated.”

Lucas stays down to earth with the help of his family. “It’s been eight months since I went home and stayed home and it’s kind of getting to me.” In his downtime, “I play a lot of go to the gym.” Right now, Call of Duty and Fallout 3 are his favorite games. As for workout tips, Lucas says, “If some guy said this to me, I wouldn’t listen either, but one rep max outs are the dumbest things you can do to yourself. I have awful ts now and I’m only nineteen! Don’t take it too hard, just be disciplined and you’ll get to your goals.”

Lucas just completed a Jackie Chan movie called The Spy Next Door. “My dad and I used to go to Blockbuster and rent Jackie Chan movies so that was the coolest experience of my life," he says. "Legend of the Drunken Master was my favorite.” And yes, he got to do some of his own stunts: “As much as they would let me do,” Lucas laughs. “There was some stuff they wouldn’t let me.”
