Deeper takes Will and his pals further into the earth where they search for Will’s father. Kidzworld reviews the Deeper, the sequel to Tunnels, by Roderick Gordon and Brian Williams.

In brother Cal following Chester, who was recently banished, deeper into the earth. But rescuing Chester isn’t his only objective. Will knows that his archeologist father has willingly traveled deeper, and Will is desperate to find him.

On their journey, the trio discovers yet another cavernous world inhabited by the mysterious Coprolite people. But with one wrong step, this new world could be potentially more Tunnels was a good read, it dragged in parts. Deeper, on the other hand, jumped right into the action and never stopped. Each chapter alternated perspectives between Will, Mrs. Burrows (Sam’s adoptive mother), and Sarah (Sam’s biological mother). Switching perspectives was a great way to keep the story fresh and keep readers on their toes. Because it’s a series, you should definitely read Tunnels first just to understand the lingo and events leading up to Deeper.
