One of our fave funny movies, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, is set to be released on Blu-Ray/DVD on August 3, 2010. To get ready for the launch, we’re re-reviewing the movie (see below) and calling all kids to participate in a fun new poll, featured on the right-hand side of this web page!
Nerdy Guys Finish Last 322h6e
Greg Heffley has it rough. When his brothers aren’t humiliating him, he’s getting ignored by his parents or being forced to endure the terrors of chubby, uncool friend Rowley doesn’t seem like a smart option for his best friend. But all that changes when Rowley begins to outcool Greg! How does Rowley do it? By just being himself.
Based On The Book 5b1f2y
Diary of a Wimpy Kid started as an online cartoon and Jeff Kinney’s hilariously painful stories were soon made into a popular series of illustrated novels like The Last Straw to name a few—a new book is due out in November. The movie does a great job of weaving Kinney’s drawings into the live action scenes—so the movie feels close to the original books.
The Bottom Line y58e
Diary of a Wimpy Kid is jam-packed with geeky heroes to keep you from giving up on middle school altogether (despite the fact that Greg considers it to be a place rigged with hundreds of social landmines, not the least of which are wedgies, swirlies, bullies, lunchtime banishment of the cafeteria floor and a festering piece of cheese with nuclear cooties that he must overcome to become popular). The pacing can get a bit slow and sometimes the gross-outs get too gross, but overall Diary of a Wimpy Kid is actually pretty wholesome! And if there’s a lesson to be learned it’s that the really cool kids don’t care what the other kids think.
