Ryan comes from a Tennis family. His dad Pat, used to be a professional tennis player, and he started playing tennis with Ryan when he was just a baby. Ryan finally beat his dad when he turned 12 years old. Ryan also has a brother and a sister who both play tennis too.

US Open
Ryan is only ranked 220 in the World but a lot of hype hit the Harrison bandwagon at the 2010 US Open when Ryan advanced to the 2nd round after beating #15 ranked Ivan Ljubicic in just 4 sets. Ryan faced Sergiy Stakhovsky in a 5-set thriller but then lost in the tiebreaker after receiving three match points, but blowing each chance. It was good experience for this young rookie.
