Growing up in Nashville, Tennessee Chord Overstreet was no stranger to music. In fact, his dad is country singer-songwriter Paul Overstreet, and his older brother Nash plays in the band Hot Chelle Rae. His mother is make-up artist, and Chord and his brother, older sister (Summer) and three younger sisters (Harmony, Skye and Charity) grew up on a farm outside the city. Their parents always encouraged them to be involved with music, and Chord is actually named after the musical term. Chord first started by playing the mandolin, but soon moved on to drums, flute, guitar and piano.

Although Chord was always interested in music first, he spent some time as a teenager modelling for companies like GAP and Famous Footwear. After graduating from high school Chord decided to pursue his love of acting and music professionally, but it was two long years before he caught a break playing Josh Hollis on the web series Private. He then went on to get small parts in movies and on iCarly.

Chord caught his big break on a show that combined his love of acting and music, playing Sam Evans on the second season of Glee! Sam is a transfer student and an athlete, but those aren’t his only talents, he can also sing! Chord was on Glee regularly for over a year, but last spring rumor had it that Chord’s contract was up and he was looking into pursuing his music career more seriously again, right now he is still unsigned. However, Glee fans weren’t ready to “cut the Chord”, and let the show know by showing their love for Sam Evans online. It’s been announced that Chord will be returning to the show for a multi-episode plot arc this holiday season, so fans of “trouty mouth” can look forward to seeing him return to their fave show.
