She & Him is a musical compilation between actress Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward. They became friends after meeting on the set of The Go-Getter, a film that Zooey starred in and M. Ward created the music for. The director asked them to perform a duet for the movie, so they recorded a version of ‘When I Get to the Border’ by Richard and Linda Thompson. Immediately the duo found they enjoyed performing and 500 Days of Summer and New Girl.
Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward decided to celebrate the 2011 holiday season with a special collection of Christmas tunes. The album was released in October, and all of their tracks were inspired by classic holiday albums from older artists like Elvis Presley and The Beach Boys. The album retains their indie folk vibe while adding a hint of Christmas cheer. If you love She & Him’s first two albums you won’t want to miss out on this one either.
