G.I. Joe: Retaliation picks up where G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra left off - with Cobra Commander under lock and key by the government and the Joes heading out on another mission. Unfortunately Cobra's allies are still doing his bidding, and with the help of technology the evil Zartan has managed to disguise himself as the American President (played by Jonathan Pryce) and frame the Joes for treason. They're on a mission to enlist the original G.I. Joe (3D. The action scenes that take place in the Chinese mountains put the 3D effect to great use, not to mention the explosions going off every five seconds.
Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) plays Roadblock, and his likeable charm in combination with superstar Bruce Willis make the unlikely plot watchable, however it's Jonathan Pryce playing the dual role of the American President and Zartan that steals the show as well as Stormshadow's (Byung-hun Lee) unmatchable martial arts moves. Unfortunately the film moves so quickly it makes it difficult to keep track of the plot. The only villain who's motives are fully explained are Stormshadow's (everyone else seems to love evil for the hell of it) and at just under 2 hours it's also a little on the long side, so seeing it in 3D is the real draw.
