Dear Dish-it: Hair Disaster! 84e3d

May 21, 2013

Dear Dish-it, 3m5p5y

There’s a guy I really like, but I just got my hair cut into a pixie. The boys in my class used to like me, but now only a few do. I asked my friend why and she said that boys like long hair. Now I’m not sure if the guy I like likes me back. My self-esteem is low. What should I do?

Sometimes guys can be picky about hair length or color or other physical traits. But the truth is, winning a guy’s affection is not about looks in the long run. It’s about showing that you are confident with your new hairdo, and owning it as though you believe it’s the best you’ve ever looked. The more confidence you have, the more your crush will be attracted to you.

Stand Up For Yourself 2m5d23

It’s hard to be judged on something like this. But kudos to you for getting such a bold haircut. If anyone says anything negative about your haircut, remind them that Ashley Greene from Twilight and Emma Watson from Harry Potter both had pixie cuts, and lots of guys had crushes on them. Whether it was because of their looks or because they were sweet and kind, we may never know. The best you can do is be sweet and kind also, as well as confident. Stand up for yourself when people try to bring you down, and keep flirting.

Personality Is Everything 2n456g

The guys in your class know you. They may have liked you for your look at first - there’s always that initial physical attraction - but it was your personality that ultimately won them over, otherwise they would have moved on quickly. So don’t let your haircut get you down. Show everyone in your class that a pixie cut is the new hot hairstyle, and maybe all the girls will want to copy you!
