After many personal losses, Hercules decides to accept his heritage as the son of Zeus and, with the common people behind him, he raises an army and returns to his homeland to take back his love and kingdom. Using the powers instilled in him by his father Zeus, Hercules is able to kill the king and his evil half brother and live happily with Hebe by his side.

We have to it that we saw an earlier, unfinished version of this movie; special visual effects weren’t finished and much of the dialogue needed to be re-recorded but, that aside, we feel that, if you are a Kellan fan, hey, he looks very hunky. If you are a fan of “sword and sandal” epics with a ton of fighting or enjoy a nice love story that brings the lovers together after many trials, then you’ll probably enjoy the film on a pure popcorn movie level.

The writers don’t use much of the known Hercules myths at all but form their own story that seems to consist of tales and scenes from 300, Gladiator, Ben Hur and Brad Pitt’s Troy all mushed together. Been there, seen that.

Kellan Lutz is a great guy and worked super hard to look and act the part of his childhood hero in this movie. He does a decent job but the look, fighting and some of the storyline is just too familiar so we can only go 3 stars.
