Starting June 9th, Microsoft will give consumers more choice by offering Xbox One for $399.99(US) without Kinect, putting Xbox One at price parity with it's biggest competitor, Sony's Playstation 4.
Since have done a wonderful job of righting the ship in the recent months after launch. The appointment of Phil Spencer to head of Xbox, seems to already be paying off. Watch the announcement of the new Kinect-less Xbox One in the video below.
Microsoft will offer Kinect on its own separately, for those that decide they want to buy one at a later date. No price has been set yet for the stand-alone Kinect.
Microsoft dropping this announcement, weeks before E3, is a smart move. It allows the bomb-shell news to settle and not overshadow the games, which Phil Spencer has promised will be the focus of their conference this year. Halo and a bunch of surprises are in store at E3 as well. Could Xbox One close the gap on PS4 with it's new price and focus on games? We'll find out soon enough.
