Check out Kidzworld’s movie review of Ice Age: Collision Course. Is little Scrat still adorable? Will the Ice Age family of characters stick together through personal and environmental changes?

Peaches (Keke Palmer) has picked her forever-mate and Sid (John Leguizamo) is dumped by girlfriend Francine (Melissa Rauch). Can the possible end of the world be a big enough deal to tear the gang away from personal drama?

Scrat, Not Again! u5x4p

Little rodent Scrat is trying to bury his acorn and accidentally activates an abandoned alien spaceship that takes him into deep space, where his actions launch several asteroids on a collision course with Earth! Meanwhile, Manny is worried about the marriage between Peaches and her sweet but goofy fiancé, Julian (Adam DeVine) and, about to propose, sloth Sid is dumped by his girlfriend, Francine.

Interrupting Asteroids 1p5cf

It’s Manny and Ellie's wedding anniversary party and some of the asteroids hit causing a narrow escape for the herd. Meanwhile in the underground cavern, after stealing a dinosaur egg, Buck (Denis Leary) discovers an ancient stone pillar, which he takes to the surface. He explains to the herd that according to the pillar, the asteroids had caused several extinctions in the past and with a massive one still incoming, he claims that the only place they could find a clue to stop it is on the site of the impact of the previous ones that always fall in the same place.

Road Trip! 1yg2e

As the herd travels to the crash site, they are followed by ticked off flying dinos angry at Buck for his egg theft. The group thinks of ways to avert the disaster and, in Geotopia, a Shangri-La style civilization built inside one of the old craters, Sid meets Brooke (Jessie J), a flower child-like sloth who falls for him. Trying to impress her, Sid unwittingly destroys the city but Buck has a plan to fill up a geyser with local crystals that will be launched by pressure into space to draw the big coming asteroid away. Will it work? Will Sid end up with Brooke? Will Peaches and Julian get married? Are the flying dinos still a problem?

Stick around for an epilogue with Scrat doing more damage.

Wrapping Up 3u4h69

Ice Age: Collision Course has its cute and funny moments but it’s basically kind of tired with an on the road movie plot and the old tried and true dad-doesn’t-approve-of-daughter’s-fiancé story.

Yes, Scrat still provides the best chuckles but he only begins the film. Young kids will probably be entertained by all the action sequences but the plot (how to stop the asteroids) is a little complicated for them and older tweens and teens will probably lose interest. Still, if you are still into these characters, you will have fun. We go three stars.
