the return of Crash Bandicoot caught me off guard and wasn't just good but great.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is a $40 package developed by Vicarious Visions that remakes the original 3 Crash Bandicoot games which were made by Naughty Dog on the PlayStation 1 back in the 90's. While Crash owned a big share of video gaming popularity in the 90's, the games were incredibly hard and never owned quite the love of Nintendo's competitive plumber. But something about Crash's character resonated with people in a way that's unlike anyone else, I mean how could he not leave an impact with commercials like what's below floating around.

Following the first weekend of this game's launch, Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy was the 2nd biggest launch of the year (just behind another Sony exclusive called Skylanders included Crash Bandicoot and was definitely a looker, something seemed slightly off about the look of the character. This remake/remaster rectifies that problem by delivering the perfect PlayStation 4 version of Crash, in looks and controls. The first Crash game only used the D-pad on the PlayStation 1 so this game's inclusion of the analog stick is very welcome, even if I still default to the D-Pad.

Each Crash game seems to get better and better, with the third entry, Crash Bandicoot: Warped, being the highlight of the trilogy for me. The first game, simply titled Crash Bandicoot, is painfully simple and insanely difficult. Aside from your spin attack you're just moving and jumping in the first game while the follow-u[s start you out with a slide, crouch, and slide-jump (the third adds even more.) Warped even adds a handful of challenging vehicle sections, including Coco's iconic tiger riding sections.

The bar has been raised for what a remake/remaster can be. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is the most well-made remaster I've ever played, by including the challenge and mistakes of the original this is truly the best way to enjoy the best outings of Crash. If you're looking a family-friendly, albeit fairly challenging, video game than you couldn't do much better than this.
