Our E3 2018 Predictions for Nintendo 562r14

May 15, 2018

 By: Max Cannon

It's that awesome time of year, time to speculate on what awesome and exciting things we could see during this year's E3 showcase. WhileMetroid Prime 4 and the very minimal announcement or an Pokémon game to the Switch.)  This year, we could see some real surprises and the Switch's library could keep up the hot-streak it's maintained since launch! Check out our predictions below!

3. Metroid Prime 4 Gameplay 4e2p1v

This was the announcement that got us most excited last year and we got barely got anything more than some stylish text over some cool music and a logo but the legacy of Nintendo's first-person sci-fi series is enough to get any Nintendo fan excited. Hopefully, in keeping with tradition, Nintendo will keep most of their announcements to things coming in the near future and since it's been an entire year since we heard anything about Metroid Prime, I'd say this is a perfect time to show what's to come.

Of course, we could wind up with a simple trailer just to tide us over until they really have something to show but that doesn't seem to fit the new Nintendo philosophy that's been ushered in with the Switch. Gameplay seems likely considering we don't really know anything about a single-player focused Switch exclusive in 2018, and following the adoration of both Super Mario Odyssey, it's reasonable to assume that Nintendo wants to keep that momentum moving forward. Though we do know about a certain multiplayer game that we are very likely to see...

2. Super Smash Bros Coming in September? 6u2c1s

This prediction is oddly specific but there is some thought put into this idea. Nintendo recently announced their online service will launch later this year in September. Up until that time, Nintendo's online service is totally free whether you're covering your friends in ink in Splatoon 2 or punishing them on the race track in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe so to suddenly start charging for something that was previously free means that something will have to sweeten the deal, it seems like a smart idea to make that very thing be Super Smash Bros.  At the very least, some sort of release date within the already confirmed 2018 window is almost a certainty.

1. Super Mario Odyssey DLC 2y6n4i

If we're going to be getting any substantial able content to Super Mario Odyssey, outside of the cosmetic stuff or small diversions like "Luigi's Balloon World," then E3 would be the time to make that announcement. What that content could exactly be is anyone's guess, however, there is one theory that has a little weight to it: Isle Delfino.

The above image was pointed out by a Reddit and focuses on the globe that maps out the possible locations you can visit on Mario's ship The Odyssey. The shape of Super Mario Sunshine's Isle Delfino is visible on the globe which could hint at its future inclusion in the game, or it could just be part of Mario's planet considering he did vacation there by plane in the Gamecube classic. If we don't see this announced here, then I doubt we'd be getting any new kingdom-related DLC for the game at all.
