The Game Takes Place in a Hotel 6q4749

Unlike the original game, and the 3DS sequel Dark Moon which took place in huge haunted mansions, Luigi’s Mansion 3’s story picks up in a resort hotel. After Mario, Peach, and the Toads come along with Luigi for a stay in the lap of luxury, things take a scary turn after night falls. Something always seems to go wrong every time the Mario Brothers try to go on vacation... Ghosts come pouring out of the rooms and halls of the hotel, and once again it is up to Luigi to use the Poltergust and bust some ghosts. Having the game set in a hotel instead of the traditional mansion should provide a nice change of pace from the past games by having a totally new look and many more nooks and crannies to explore. It is no ordinary hotel, though. The ghosts have taken over, and all kinds of unusual things have begun to take hold, so you will never know what is around the next corner. There are bosses to face as well, like a giant Boo.

The Poltergust G-00 is the newest tool in Luigi’s ghost fighting arsenal, replacing the Poltergust 3000 and 5000 from the original Luigi's Mansion game and Dark Moon. It has a new Slam mode, where Luigi can smash ghosts around against walls and even other ghosts for big damage. The Suction Shot allows him to grab onto items, obstacles, doors, and even enemies’ shields and yank them out of the way to reveal new ages and secrets. Luigi can also activate Burst, which launches him into the air to push back ghosts and jump over obstacles. These new functions and attacks are a welcome addition to Luigi’s Mansion, and we can’t wait to see how they change up the gameplay.

Returning from the 3DS version of the original game is Gooigi, the Flubber like version of Luigi created by Dr. E. Gadd. Gooigi allows Luigi to by obstacles that he usually wouldn’t be able to, like metal gates and sharp spikes. He can even be controlled by a second player in co-op to help with ghost busting and puzzle solving. Be careful of water though, Gooigi can be easily sucked away when water touches him.

 

The ScareScraper 4c5g2x

Speaking of multiplayer, the ScareScraper is a new addition to the Luigi’s Mansion series. It is a seperate location from the main game where you and your friends all take control of different colored Luigi’s to take on hordes of ghosts, find secrets, and rescue friends like the Toads. You move up the ScareScraper by capturing each ghost on every floor, with each floor being tougher than the last. This mode should keep the game fun even after the main game is finished, with new challenges to scomplete with your friends.

Unfortunately, beyond that Luigi’s Mansion 3 is set to hit the Nintendo Switch this year in 2019, we do not yet know precisely when the game will be coming out. Next Level Games is the studio behind the game, and they promise it will only come out when it is ready to go, so when it does, you’ll know the game will be in the best shape it can be.
