This is one of Australia's and New Zealand's most important holidays. They celebrate it like we celebrate ANZAC soldiers fought for their countries and won, but even more significant than this event is that they were all volunteers, including the 8,000 who died in battle.
Arbor Day :: Last Friday of April (In Most States) 664i3a
Arbor means tree, which makes tree-covered state it is today. He used his position as the editor of Nebraska's first newspaper to encourage others to keep planting trees. On the first Arbor Day, the people of Nebraska planted over one million trees.
