I'm really sorry to hear about your mom being sick. I totally understand why you would feel so helpless in this situation but the last thing you should do is hurt yourself. How do you think your mom would feel to know that you were trying to take your own life? Despite what she is going through, I bet she would do anything in her power to make sure you were happy and safe. So many people don't realize how important the people in their lives are until they are gone, but you have a rare opportunity. You're able to let your mom know how much she means to you and spend as much time as possible doing stuff together. No, this doesn't make up for her not being around in the United States.
