Hey defensiveend2,
Speed is one of the most important attributes for a defensive end. One second can make the difference between stopping a football is snapped. The following drill is designed to improve both your speed and reaction time and will require the help of a friend:

React and Run

  • Start out by lying on the ground, either on your back or front.
  • Have a friend stand 30 yards away and yell out a snap count.
  • When you hear your friend yell the snap count, get up and run to them as fast as you can.
  • Practice this drill in sets of five and have your friend move around to different points, so you can practice reacting to the the sound of their voice.
