Cheerleading Tips and Stunts (pg. 2) 1h1i7

  • Elevator - Two bases each hold a different foot of one flyer. The feet are both held at shoulder level.

  • Flyer - The cheerleader who is lifted into the air by the bases or the cheerleader that is on top of a pyramid or stunt.

  • Liberty - A base holds up a flyer with one of his or her feet in both of the base's hands. The flyer's other leg is bent. There are also one armed click here.

  • L Motion - Cheerleading motion. Both arms form an L shape. The up arm should have your pinky facing the crowd and the side arm should have your thumb facing the crowd. There are left and right L motions.

  • Pyramid - Multiple mounts or a group of stunts next to one another.

  • Scorpion - While in a Liberty a cheerleader grabs the toe of their bent leg and brings it up to almost behind their head (A stunt that should only be tried by experienced cheer teams).

  • Spotter - The cheerleader that stays in with the performing surface and watches for any hazards in the stunt or mount. The spotter is responsible for watching the flyer and to be prepared to catch them if she falls.

  • Tick-Tock - When a flyer switches feet in a stunt.

  • Touchdown - Cheerleading motion where both arms are held directly overhead, tight against the head and ears. Hands have palms facing each other, pinky side out. This motion should be used when the football team scores a touchdown.

  • V Motion - Cheerleading motion where both arms are up forming a V. Thumb side of fists faces the crowd.
