- Biggest Wave - The January 10, 2006. The wave was found at a break in Maui known as Jaws and Cabrinha had to be towed out to the wave by a jet ski.
- Longest Ride - The record for longest distance surfing a wave is held by Brazilian surfer, Picuruta Salazar. He Amazon River in Brazil for 37 minutes while travelling 7.8 miles (12.5 km).

- On September 18, 2006, 73 people made surfing history by riding a single wave at the same time off the coast of Cape Town, South Africa. The 73 surfers rode the same wave for 5 seconds and broke the record of 44 people on one wave, which had been set in Ireland in May 2006.
- May 2005, when 47 surfers rode the world's largest surfboard at the same time. The surfboard was 40-feet long, ten-feet wide and weighed more than 1200 pounds.

- Surfing superstar, Kelly Slater, has won the World Surfing Championship seven times - more than any other surfer. Slater won the title in 1992, 1994-1998 and 2005.
- Layne Beachley is considered the best pro female surfer in history. She won the Women's Surfing Championship six straight times from 1998 to 2003.
