AnnaSophia Robb Interview w4l71

Apr 14, 2015

By: Sindy

She may be years away from learning Bridge to Terabithia, who you'll probably already recognize from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Because of Winn-Dixie. Check out what she has to say!

Sindy: Can you tell me a little about Bridge to Terabithia?
AnnaSophia Robb: Bridge to Terabithia is about a young boy and a young girl who become magical world that they call Terabithia, where they don't have to face the problems that they have in the real world.

Sindy: What did you like about your character?
AnnaSophia Robb: I love Leslie. She's super imaginative and creative and just full of life. And really has fun in everything she does.

Sindy: She's also a pretty fast runner in the movie. Are you athletic yourself?
AnnaSophia Robb: Um, I try to be. I love to run and I really love to swim and dance, but I do have to say that Josh is a faster runner than I am.

Sindy: You worked with Johnny Depp in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. What was that like?
AnnaSophia Robb: He's a really amazing guy. There's such a big mob around him all the time, so when I was filming with him I got nervous because everyone was making such a big deal about him. But when I just got to talking with him, he's just a really sweet man - really normal and loves his kids and is always talking about them.

Sindy: You have five films coming out this year - is it hard to find time to be a normal kid?
AnnaSophia Robb: It is. You know, it's really hard to balance home life and acting - and fitting in school and friends and family. It's hard. But we try to keep it balanced. It's always good to take a break and go back home.

Sindy: You've worked in both TV and film. Which do you prefer?
AnnaSophia Robb: Film. Definitely. I haven't worked a ton in TV, so I don't really know. But I really like films because the subject matter - not all the time - but is often deeper. You get to travel to different places and you're not committed to a whole season. It's just one movie. The other reason I don't do too much TV is because I can live in Colorado, you know, where I'm from, and keep going to the same school.

Sindy: So what do all your friends in Colorado think of your career?
AnnaSophia Robb: Quite frankly, they're tired of it. They're happy for me but they miss me - being gone all the time, which is understandable. I mean, I really miss my friends and family - I think that's about the worst part of acting is just having to leave home and missing everyone terribly for months on end.

Sindy: Who is the coolest person you've worked with to date?
AnnaSophia Robb: Everybody is just so amazing. I became best friends with Josh - it was great working with him. But Charlize Theron - I just recently worked with her - and she's such an amazing actress. She's just so powerful and so committed to her work and the art of filmmaking.

Sindy: Who would you like to work with in the future?
AnnaSophia Robb: There's so many good actors out there, you know. But um, I'd love to work with Jake Gyllenhaal, I think he's really cute. That's probably the only Hollywood crush I have - but I guess he's just a little old for me. Actually a lot old, but that's just because I'm really young.

Sindy: How did you get your start in acting?
AnnaSophia Robb: I wanted to act since I was really little, but when I was nine years old, my mom and dad got me an agent and I started getting little commercial jobs. And then I went to an LA agents and managers came out. So they scouted me and I went out to LA - and the rest is history.

Sindy: What advice would you give to other kids who want to get into acting?
AnnaSophia Robb: I would say just be yourself. And try to persevere. The acting industry is really hard because your heart wants, go with it and try your best. But your best is your best. And if you don't get the role, it's not necessarily you. It's not because they don't like you. It's because you're different from what they're looking for. They might be looking for rocky road and you're chocolate chip.
