Ironkids is a triathlon series designed for kids that are seven to 14 years old. A standard adult triathlon is a 1.5 kilometer swim, a 40 kilometer bike ride and a 10 kilometer run. The Ironkids Triathlon is a 100 meter disabled children. The Ironkids Triathlon Series is held in six US cities annually including, Atlanta,Georgia; Allen,Texas; Lawrence,Kansas; Louisville, Colorado; Tempe, Arizona and Napa, California.

  • In 1985, a 13 year-old kid Lance Armstrong took second in the Ironkids race in Texas.
  • The series started in 1985 and since then, more than 40,000 kids have participated.
  • The Ironkids motto is "Every Finisher is a Winner" which means every kid gets to break the tape, as well as receive a T-shirt, swim cap and pin.
  • Many of the top triathlon athletes today such as Olympian Hunter Kemper and Laura Reback competed in the Ironkids Triathlon Series when they were kids.
