The 2001 MTV Movie Awards were filmed on Saturday, June 2. The winners were simliar to the Oscars - in other words lots of Gladiator mixed in with a little Erin Brokovich and Crouching Tiger. Other winners include Tom Cruise for Mission Impossible II. Cruise showed up a little late. Word is he did so to avoid the opening welcome given, via satellite, by his soon-to-be ex-wife Nicole Kidman. Tom knew that if he was in the audience during the welcome, all cameras would be pointed at him looking for a reaction. So Tom showed up late and left shortly after accepting his award. For more dirt on the MTV Awards, check out the Mint on Friday. We'll have an indepth review.
