Scleroderma is a collagen in the body. The symptoms can be visible (on the skin) or invisible (when the internal organs are affected) and may include:

  • Being very sensitive to cold
  • Swelling of hands and feet
  • t pain and stiffness
  • Thickening of the skin
  • Digestive system problems
  • Mouth, face and dental problems
  • Kidney, lung problems

    On April 5, 2009, from 12:30-2:30 p.m., an important event in the fight against Scleroderma is taking place in Richmond, B.C., a the Richmond Ice Rink in the Forum Rink . The event was created by Denise Kostash in honor of her mother, Irene Spencer, who ed away from the disease in April 2008.


    With the help of the Scleroderma Association of BC, the annual skate event helps provide the community with an opportunity to have fun and learn about the life-altering disease. ission is by donation and the proceeds go to the Scleroderma Association of BC.
