But what's the catch, you say? Well, the other part of the dare is that the knight must let the Green Knight take a whack at his head with an King Arthur himself stands to take on the Green Knight. Sir Gawain quickly jumps up and offers himself instead, not wanting to have the King risk his life. Needless to say the Green Knight wasn't that fazed by having his head chopped off. Yup, he just put it right back on and went on his merry way, reminding Gawain of his end of the bargain before he left.

So a few months later, Sir Gawain set out in search of the Green Chapel (home of, you guessed it, the Green Knight,) and he and Terence manage to encounter several enemies along the way. Terence is actually just as, if not more, important to the book than Sir Gawain. His character is so selfless you can't help but root for him. If you're looking for an action-packed read then The Squire, His Knight & His Lady is the book for you.
