Fight enemies, cast spells and destroy Voldemort’s Horcruxes in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 for DS. Read the review here.

fight enemies or sneak past them. There is a collection of basic moves players need to master in order to accomplish this.

Throughout the game Harry will need to cast spells (ie. Protego, which protects the player from an attack), make potions (ie. Wiggenweld Potion, which restores the player’s health) and collect magical items in order to survive. Creating potions can be time consuming but fun. The game leads the player through the process, but the player must be quick as the potion-making process is timed. If you don’t complete it in time you need to go back and try again.

Puzzled? q1f6i

While the game is certainly more grown up than past versions, the shooting and potion making quickly gets repetitive. While the first 20 minutes of gameplay are great, the rest is just more of the same. There is a noticeable lack of puzzles and mini games, which are usually used as brief interludes between long combat scenes. If you’re a Harry Potter fan the game is worth checking out, but it doesn’t hold much appeal for anyone else.
