It’s Round 1 of the semi-finals on America’s Got Talent Season 6. Most acts stepped up it, while one took a turn for the worst. Episode 26 aired on August 23, 2011.
It was a competitive night as 10 of the 12 acts impressed the judges. Zuma Zuma captivated Piers, while Sharon and Howie thought they lacked energy. Beth Ann Robinson showed that a 14-year-old solo dancer deserves a million dollars. Sharon called her performance flawless.
Sandou Trio Dropped The Bar 8321x
Sandou Trio dropped the “Russian Bar” from their name tonight along with the whole concept of their routine. Instead of performing dangerous flips on the flexible balance beam, the female sang a song (not well, I might add) while playing a piano that flipped upside down. Meanwhile, one of the males performed aerial tricks. Their defense? They have more variety acts than just the Russian bar and they wanted to showcase that. Unfortunately, it looked more like a comedy act.

Kevin Colis also lacked some luster. Sharon called him bland and forgettable, and compared him to the Wiggles. Ouch! Matt Wilhelm may have fallen while demonstrating his black light bike tricks, but Sharon loved the theme about overcoming bullies.

POPLYFE just keeps getting better. They performed Come Together by Christina Aguilera) received rave reviews from the judges.
Standing Ovation 265a4y
Team iLuminate earned a standing ovation from the judges, along with the Miami All-Stars, who brought AGT back to the 1920’s with their dance routine. Daniel Joseph Baker showed his serious side for a change, which Piers thought was terrific. Finally, Lys Agnes performed an opera version of Bring Me To Life by Evanescence.

There was so much amazing talent this week, but only five acts moved on to the finals. Those included POPLYFE, Miami All-Stars, Team iLuminate, Lys Agnes and by the judges vote, West Springfield Dance Team.
