Book Review: The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore k221c

Nov 19, 2011

Pittacus Lore returns with his second book in the teen sci-fi series, the Lorien Legacies. Kidzworld reviews The Power of Six.

Number Four n4t64

After losing his Cepan, Henry, in a battle against the evil Mogadorians, John (Number Four), his best friend Sam, and his fellow Lorien Number Six are on the run. But leaving the quiet town of Paradise, Ohio, isn’t easy for John, namely because the police think he’s a terrorist, so staying under the radar is crucial.

Number Six 511y29

While on the run, John begins to develop feelings for Number Six. But that’s not supposed to happen. According to Henry, Loriens’ only fall in love once, and that love lasts a lifetime. So why is he so attracted to Number Six? To make matters worse, Sam has a crush on her, too.

Number Seven h332t

Meanwhile, Number Seven has spent years hiding in a sleepy orphanage, Katarina slowly forgot their purpose on the planet - to evade the Mogs until the remaining six Garde’s could unite and defeat the Mogadorians once and for all. But staying in one spot will only make it easier for the Mogs to find them.

The Bottom Line y58e

Unlike I Am Number Four, this sequel jumps between two perspectives: Number Four’s and Number Seven’s. However, this book is just as action-packed (maybe even more so), and the characters are just as loveable (or hateable, in the Mogadorians’ case) as the first. If you like science fiction, action or dystopian novels for teens, definitely check out this series. It’s great for boys and girls!
