Free Birds didn't exactly make a killing at the box office and it wasn't a hit with most major critics, but that doesn't mean it isn't worth a watch at home - who doesn't want to experience Amy Poehler and Owen Wilson as BFF turkeys, and Woody Harrelson.) In fact, we would love to see a live-action film featuring Amy and Owen bantering with each other. There are a lot of different things happening in the plot of Free Birds, so watching it at home actually guarantees that you'll be able to catch everything that's going on.
The animation is visually pleasing and precise, and Free Birds is a great effort as the first feature length animated film by Reel FX, an we hope to see more from them in the future - Pixar and Disney could use the competition! The DVD + Blu-Ray comes packed with fun extras that take you behind the scenes and show you just how the animation came to life.
Free Birds is a fun buddy adventure caper that's great for a family movie night, especially if you have younger siblings involved.
